COMING SOON: Little League SAFE Launches on January 5

Starting on January 5, the traditional ASAP program will be evolving to provide a new, modernized safety framework starting in 2026 with two new initiatives – "Little League SAFE" and "SAFE to Play." Together, these programs will replace the longtime ASAP structure with a more comprehensive approach that combines education, compliance, and recognition.

While full details about these programs will be made available with the launch on January 5, here are a few FAQs that we have received and may help you in the next two weeks:

Will there still be incentives and awards?
Yes! As part of Safe to Play, participation incentives, grants, and other opportunities for information sharing and league recognition will be available for 2026 thanks to the continued support of our partners like Musco and AIG, who have been supporters of Little League’s safety initiatives since its inception. As part of this new initiative, SAFE to Play defines annual safety requirements and provides recognition through league grant awards and district incentives, reinforcing Little League’s commitment to continuous improvement in every program. More information about these incentives and awards will be shared on January 5.

Can volunteers still complete Abuse Awareness training and required background checks, or do they need to wait until January and the launch of Little League SAFE?
Yes, leagues should continue completing background checksAbuse Awareness Training, and any state-required or Little League-required pre-season steps as normal. Nothing needs to pause while we transition to Little League SAFE.
